ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I have been fascinated by storefronts ever since I set my tiny baby eyes on one. The text fonts and graphic signs, the products, the colors, the characters, logos, language, culture and so on. I want to call store fronts a portraiture of someones product. I may not always want the product, but the storefront sets a precedence for me to be interested in it. It's kind of like falling in love at first glance, but keeping the mystery present by crafting it into an art work. This piece was created in reference to my visit to the Jeonju Hanok Village. 'Jeonju' is the city, 'Hanok' means traditional Korean home. It was a very tourist heavy area, and the architecture had a very polished look about everything. 'Polished' is not quite the most positive word that I would use in my vocabulary, but it felt suitable in this situation. The village felt more like a recreation, like a holly wood set piece, rather than an authentic dilapidated neighborhood. but even as an emulation, I was thoroughly entertained by the atmosphere, people and the food. Whether you are a local or a tourist, this is a place that I would like to recommend people to visit. Whether they thing it is fake or not, to me it felt like an experience that was well worth the travel.

Born in South Korea, Seoul Lives and works in Hong Kong I am currently working part time as an artist, and full time as an art assistant at a school. I use this blog as a space to tell stories, share ideas and show artwork. My focus was in animation, but I have found myself leaning closer towards painting and drawing. I like playing basketball, going on long walks, and also going on the occasional hike. One day I wish to work full time as an artist, and travel the world.
