About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by street art, by the painting methods of Pollock and Basquiat, by some African masks I own and by my nephew, Joshua Kellogg who is a tattooist and has some body modifications. I hope that viewers will feel intrigued by this figure, a combination of African and Western influences, and will make them realise that such decoration is to be admired, not feared. My idea was to combine the free flowing paint pouring of Pollock with a controlled painting of a street warrior.
