Relaxing blue-green and neutral sandy beiges combine with reflections of white and strokes of dark brown in this abstract landscape painting to hint at a faraway vacation spot of dreams – perfect for many home décor color palates and room styles. The artwork is painted using fine artist grade acrylic on a 2-inch-thick primed wooden canvas to provide a durable surface to see all of the heavy brush work and markings to highlight movement while also bringing about a feeling of spa-like calm. I use fine artist acrylic paint on wood canvas or heavy artist papers so the surface can be worked aggressively to create texture and the paint can be layered and mixed. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and draw inspiration from my own childhood memories and landscapes growing up in the Midwest. My hope is that each painting creates a feeling or mood with color and movement that represents memorable locations, profound life moments and experiences, or awe-inspiring beauty for the viewer.
