About The Artwork

Vespa – In this piece, I've dipped my brush into the spirit of freedom that a scooter symbolizes. With watercolors, I've painted this Vespa, hoping to channel the essence of those leisurely rides through quaint alleyways and bustling streets. The technique is simple, yet speaks volumes—the transparency of watercolors creates a lightness, a softness that mirrors the carefree moments a Vespa ride promises. The pink shade adds a touch of whimsy, a reminder of youth and the joys of discovery. 'Vespa' embodies the art of slow travel, the beauty of taking your time to soak in the world. It's about the journey, not the destination, and the stories that unfold along the way.

Hello! I'm Tanishka Malankar, a watercolor artist and sculpture student based in Mumbai, India. My love for art started early in my childhood, with watercolors quickly becoming my favorite medium. They allowed me to express my creativity and capture the world as I saw it. I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture at Sir JJ School of Art. My art style blends realistic and expressive elements, focusing mainly on everyday objects and landscapes. One of my favorite projects was a hyperrealistic painting of dollar bills, where I really got to dive deep into the fine details. In my watercolor work, I prefer the wet on dry technique. It helps me achieve clear, crisp lines and a sense of calm in my paintings. While I haven't had the opportunity to exhibit my work yet, I'm excited about the prospect in the future. My art is a reflection of my experiences and the world around me, and I hope it allows viewers to create their own narratives and connections. As for inspiration, it often comes from the act of creating itself. There's something about the process of bringing an idea to life that's incredibly motivating. My advice to anyone starting in art is straightforward: keep practicing and be persistent. It's amazing how much you can grow and improve by just keeping at it. I'm looking forward to pursuing a master's degree in sculpting, ideally in the UK or Europe. This next step is about challenging myself, learning new techniques, and expanding my artistic skills. Whether I'm working with watercolors or clay, my goal is to create art that resonates with people, offering a glimpse into different perspectives and experiences.
