ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Weather is one of my favorite subjects (I'm a pilot, after all), and there are only two seasons as far as I'm concerned--Summer (see my Beach Day Series), and Winter. Winter can be brutal here in Maine. Late at night when a storm is howling outside, my mind turns to thoughts of wildlife seeking warmth and sustenance in the forest outside--often in vain. Wintertime scavengers like foxes, pine martens, and crows seek out the weak and the dead. Winter is unforgiving. I wonder how our prehistoric ancestors dealt with the challenges they faced, surrounded by glaciers and unrelenting cold...
