ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In my series 'woman and man on paper' I thought about the colours of the individual motifs. Even when sketching I knew that I didn't want strong colours, but reduced and puristic. A white sheet of paper and the motifs in a maximum of 3 colours. Leave space, calmness for the look and no distraction from the actual subject.

Dagmar Saerchinger found her way into a creative life very early on. As a photo stylist, producer and finally a painter. From the very beginning she was concerned with the image of women in connection with their environment. Nature in all its beauty and the animal world always provide small accents in her pictures. In her series AUGEN.BLICK, portraits of women are once again the focus of her work. With the emphasis on the eyes, the choice of colors and the contouring of the outlines of the faces, the artist deals intensively with the view of women in our society. The painter Dagmar Saerchinger lives and works in Cologne - Germany. Her life has always been shaped by her creative professions - from graphic design, jewelry design, handbag collections and children's fashion to painting. She is still inspired by her long work as a stylist for photo and film productions, which allowed her to travel all over the world. One of the most exciting, impressive and formative continents was and is Africa - this region became the most important station in her life - through her countless travels, which repeatedly took her to South Africa and especially to the Cape region, painting became her calling and with it her love of female portraits and female figures. It is very nice to have you here - thank you very much.
