"Waiting", waiting room, painting on newspaper, 2021 My son has ME / CFS, a severe multi-system disease, for 5 years now. In recent months, the disease has moved more into the public eye, since Long Covid can also develop into ME / CFS. Two years ago he began to paint pictures, one picture over several days or weeks, as his state of exhaustion allowed. He had to give up this one of his few occupations, which this insidious disease barely allowed, because the disease has the last of his energy taken for it. So we, my son and I, agreed that I would take up his pictures in the series "Greedy for Life" and his experiences in the two series "Waiting Room" and "Bad Docs" and paint them with my subjective impressions. The non-profit organization #MillionsMissing Germany describes the illness of those affected, the status of medical care and current research very well. The movement also draws attention to the shortcomings in medical treatment, research and government funding. "Millions of missing people" in a waiting room, disappeared, forgotten, hopelessness and hope, this is the picture I have in mind. The waiting room of the doctor's office, a place of hope in which the last physical reserves are exhausted. A supposedly short visit to the doctor, the last energy reserves devours. It takes days or weeks for the energy pool to fill up again. During this time, your own room becomes a waiting room, a place of hope until the next doctor's visit, until the next waiting room.
