FLYCAT Writer and leading figure of the International Hip Hop/Graffiti Art scene. Born in Milan in 1970. The strong emotional charge that, in a thirty years career, has always distinguished Flycat, led him beyond those that can be pre-defined patterns of Graffiti Art, in domains that range from photography to graphics, from music to poetry and journalism, from design to video, art and fashion. In this last field he collaborated with Levi’s, Adidas, Nike, Dimensione Danza, Enrico Coveri, Les Copains (he became also the face for Les Copains’s man winter collection 2012/2013). His career began in the '80s; in the early ‘90s he is confronted with various international artists, especially the New York City Street Art avant-garde; in 1995 he joined officially the cultural and artistic Chicano movement of East Los Angeles, California, where he spent several years working with some of the most famous West Coast artists, among which Chaz Bojorquez, Retna and the poet Luis J. Rodriguez. In 2010, the artist Rammellzee (USA - 1960 - 2010) bestowed upon him the honour of being one of his disciple, with other few artists in the world. Flycat’s artworks have been presented in several personal and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. He has always been very keen to highlight the socio-cultural aspects of his art: in 1998 he realized the first Spray Art course in the Juvenile Prison C. Beccaria in Milan, in 2006 he collaborated with FAI (Italian National Trust), acting as Artistic Director for the exhibition “Dal Muro alla Tela” (“From Wall to Canvas”), in 2008 he worked with the Ministry for Youth creating a discussion group on urban art. In 2013 he published his Manifesto: Celestial Futurism. In February 2016, Flycat is invited by The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art to hold a workshop and to create a masterpiece to become part of the permanent Collection of the Museum.
