About The Artwork

This painting is the finalist of the 14th Art Renewal Center Salon competition. Water was always an interesting theme. Spectating the purity, vitality, rhythm of the waves, dance of the lights became a huge series of watercolor, which comes to life till this day and has no conclusion. Painting watercolor is like conducting an orchestra of the sea. Water mixes cold sky reflections and warm body of the earth. Water moves by the rhythm of wind, catching light, reflects it from the wave ridges to the bottom of sea. Sun sparkles runs at the bottom as if a golden snake subsequently disappearing in the depths. It is live and nourishing substance rich in colors and emotions. Water has attraction from itself, just like the watercolor. I find universal painting ideas there, speaking about the creation and extinction, balance between the squeamish and powerful, color harmony and nature rhythm.

I was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1971. In 1982-1986 I have attended a school of arts and in 1994 graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Art, Vilnius, Lithuania. Before entering the Academy, I have attended a watercolor studio by Vytautas Peciukonis in 1987. There I fell in love with the wet-on-wet watercolor. Since 2002 I showed my watercolors at personal exhibitions in Lithuania and participated in the International Watercolor Biennials. In 2009 I established my own watercolor studio in Vilnius, where I teach watercolor painting to both children and adults.
