A recent body of work claims a more sovereign, self-defined presence.
My latest work explored ambiguity, allowing forms to dissolve into darkness and uncertainty. In contrast, these works bring the figure forward—no longer retreating, but fully inhabiting the space. After Nocturnal Bodies, where figures hovered between presence and disappearance, this new body of work marks a shift toward clarity and assertion.
Where I once explored softness and withholding, I now move toward boldness, independence, and emotional force. Colour becomes more direct, gestures more decisive, and the presence of the figure more grounded. These are not portraits of individuals, but emotional states—complex, layered, and unapologetically held.
The women depicted do not seek validation or explanation. They exist on their own terms, resisting idealisation and narrative closure. What remains is a sense of inner authority: a quiet but undeniable strength that does not need to perform or resolve itself for the viewer.
