Brett Melliar is a painter, currently based in California. As a painting aficionado, Brett utilizes all types of painting mediums and a large range of painting styles to orchestrate his visual symphonies, giving the work a collage-like appearance. The ideas influencing his work are inspired by the time he spent playing competitive basketball, baseball, and soccer year-around as a kid. The exposure to, and reinforcement of, winning from an early age has molded his competitive spirit in life, but to him, is not above being subject to his own introspection. Themes of competition, hierarchy, and mastery are important topics to his work; ones which he portrays in a serious manner, while simultaneously debunking through humor.
