This painting is inspired by the sense of melancholy that always seems to be evoked by staring out to the horizon when the atmosphere is such that the meeting of sea and sky merge into one. I find this little painting to be both dramatic and quietly moody at the same time. I think it's one of those paintings that captures a little piece of the artist.
