ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The theme of Arizona Tiki Oasis 2021 was "The Soundtrack of Tiki Oasis". Inspired by that theme, I created this piece. I vowed never to create a velvet Elvis, but I never said I wouldn't do a velvet Tiki Elvis. I stretched black velvet over a 33 rpm record, painted the image & glued the rhinestones. I then hand-sewed a pocket on the back in which I inserted a 45 rpm record of Elvis Presley singing "Rock-A-Hula Baby" from the movie "Blue Hawaii. I backed the whole thing with authentic Hawaiian fabric glued to foam core & then placed it in a gold-painted bamboo frame.
