I painted this with hopes of spring coming on a winters day. Inspired by the flowers which surround the countryside in Spring. The vibrant bursts, or perhaps explosions of flowers contrasted with the white of paper I hope allows for this to be seen as an optimistic emotive piece. It engages botanical illustration and expressionistic styles to create a very pleasing effect with vibrant colours. It is painted in high quality watercolours which sit vibrantly on a handmade rough edged paper from the local paper mill with whom I collaborate on paper textures and sheet style.
