About The Artwork

We now live in a world where we must be very concerned about climate change and how it could effect every creature on earth. nd because of this, for a number of years my drawing and painting practice has centered around natural life and the environments that support it. The subject of this painting is a pair of wild Przewalski's horses, which are critically endangered. The wild horses once roamed grasslands in Europe and Asia, but are only found now in reintroduction sites in Mongolia, China, and Kazakhstan. This couple seems united, as if on guard of any threats. I grew up in rural Ohio, where in the 5th grade my art teacher began encouraging me to draw. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting at The Ohio State University, I was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. I then moved to NYC to attend New York University, spent a semester abroad, painting, drawing, and sculpting in Venice, Italy, and earned a Master's degree in studio art. The New York metropolitan area has been my home ever since. I now live and work in Yonkers with my husband, John, who provides invaluable support, advice, and carpentry skills.
