Often compared to the Luminist painters, Elizabeth Carroll Grace was described as a Romantic Realist and an heir to the Hudson River School of landscape painting because of her commitment to beauty and technique and was one of a handful of contemporary artists to be included in the exalted company of the 19th and 20th century masters
