I was inspired to paint this painting by a walk in the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia. When entering the tiny Latvia of the former times that hides unobtrusively behind the pine forest at Lake Jugla, do not strive to perceive it as a reality for it was a reality only to those from long ago. But the objects, structures, and households still continue to exist. This painting fits any classic or modern interior, and would also be appropriate in the office. The painting is made in oil on canvas stretched on a stretcher and has a special mount for hanging. No additional frames or fastenings are required.

Galina Sviridenko is an artist from Latvia. Galina was born in Riga, Latvia, where she lives and works. Galina has been training with Latvian artists for many years. Her first teacher was the wonderful Latvian artist Dmitry Ignatovich. Currently, Galina continues to develop her painting skills with a Latvian artist Arthur Agadjanian. She believes that every person needs to learn and develop throughout his or her whole life. For the last 10 years she was mainly painting with oil. She describes her style in painting as abstract figurative impressionism. Portrait is Galina's favorite genre. She is interested in people, she loves people. Galina’s paintings are located at collectors in various countries of the world: most in Latvia and Italy, but also in Russia, Germany and Belarus. Galina’s paintings also adorn the walls of the offices of many Latvian companies in Riga. “I am inspired by people's emotions that can manifest themselves in absolutely calm faces and even static poses. The characters in my paintings are mostly women - thoughtful, confused, determined, but always confident, and on their own merits. I try to experiment with background and color, sometimes violating color combination rules. I find it interesting to connect the abstract background with a sufficiently realistic portrait. I never know before what will work – what emotions the character will have, what the background will be, everything is born through the painting process. For me, every new canvas is an improvisation. At that moment when I like the emotions of the character and the composition of colors in the painting, I try to stop, sometimes deliberately neglecting details. What matters to me is the condition that the painting brings to itself, from the first intuitive feeling to the sustained feeling that comes with time. I work mostly with oil on canvases pulled onto a lower frame.”
