This is a landscape, a beach with two girls riding a wave together on the same board. It could also be a conversation between two trans friends standing on a corner under the dark cold of society.

Julio Vega is an acolyte of digital manipulation and new technologies, though he hasn't abandoned the pictorial method of presenting his work: In fact, the interaction of these methods enriches the overall artistic experience. He works with his ideas and moves from one technique to the other; from analog photographs to oils, electro-acoustic music to watercolors, audiovisual to ink drawing, from sharp HD graphics to Chinese calligraphic brushes...and this transit is due to his intention of expressing an idea conveniently, based on its background and the aesthetic that inspires it. The themes and references are diverse yet often recurrent: I-Ching, new wave music, identity, anonymity. The artist’s humor gets displayed through his vibrant palette with random colors and clear harmonies which bring the Costa Rican traditional oxcart colors to our collective memory and refreshes it. He’s deeply aware of both the natural and human condition hence his art expands into multiple directions instead of following a straight line. He observes the intersection points that occur at his daily work, the convergence of languages and what it represents, therefore he intentionally disguises references and themes with a desire to keep his art open to interpretation and meaning so it can reach different audiences in a variety of ways
