World of Gold Print

This piece is inspired by the suffering of black communities post slavery in the US. And the the daily battle women today face struggling with identity and origin due to slaves being taken to America. The title, 'World of Gold' brings to light the strength to move past pain and suffering and see nothing but a world of gold despite not knowing where they come from, and carrying such deep oppression and violence in their past. Along with the day to day fear living as a person of colour in the US. Where freedom is idolized and is what the country prides itself on, yet kids in the black community are growing up afraid of people who are supposed to protect them. So a title such as 'World of Gold' becomes quite ironic, and displays great strength in a major group of people who refused to give up on their freedom. I hope viewers see this and feel inspired, that they see beauty, strength, and get a message that love and bravery is more powerful than greed.
