"X-Port" reminds me of a point in my life where I get a sense of belonging. The structure in the middle pulls back the layers and increases the magnification to reveal emerging feelings. I wanted to feel the current coming right out of the canvas and shape it from that point forward. "I've been here before, awake or not, alive or not; I know this place immediately." ✔ The painting is signed on the front and back. It is on a gallery-wrapped canvas with finished black edges and comes ready to hang. "X-Port" was conceived and completed throughout spring 2013 at the Island Studio, Jerusalem. About a series "Destination Beyond": I had a sneaking suspicion that there was more going on than my five senses could tell me. This is how I found my window into worlds that lie beyond the vanity of worldly affairs, places that no man has ever seen. I knew I needed to explore these unseen realms, relying on my intuition to find the answers I sought. As my attention sinks into these imaginary worlds, it gradually loses the focal dynamics of ordinary perception and, at a specific moment, reveals its original potential - pure and living Consciousness. Q: How did science fiction come to influence your work? A: I am a big fan of sci-fi. I remember being obsessed with it in childhood so much. I got my inspiration from books of famous Russian and international writers, such as the Strugatsky brothers, Alexander Belyaev, Ivan Yefremov, Stanisław Lem, Jules Verne, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, H. G. Wells, Arthur C. Clarke, and many others. I used to love drawing a perfect society based on intelligent technology with no nature pollution. I had imagined humanity transcended its existence beyond the home planet and expanded further into space. Since then, I grew up, I increased my range of interests but still refer to sci-fi as the core of my inspiration—where it all started for me. Artist Statement: Alexey Adonin explores the point of convergence between abstraction and surrealism to create a channel of communication between his inner world and the viewers, not only to share his personal vision but also and especially to invite viewers to elaborate their personal interpretations and narratives, establishing deep involvement both in the emotional aspect and in the intellectual one. His approach to work is without preconception, allowing random things to happen first. Then, he takes advantage of the mind's ability to find order in chaos or use a prepared sketch. Alexey mostly strives to get away from banal copying of reality, preferring instead to create one of his own—something that somehow reflects his inner world. Biography: As an explorer of the mysterious universe of oil painting, Alexey Adonin has dedicated over one and a half-decade to convey his vision of hidden otherworldly realms connected with a timeless source of inspiration. Raised in Eastern Europe, Belarus, Alexey's thirst for mysticism and love for art has been evident from a young age. He began attending children's art school and later went to art college. Today based in Jerusalem, Alexey has exhibited locally and internationally. His works have also been acquired by notable private collections worldwide.
