This listing is for an original signed and framed pastel painting of the magnificent Yellowstone Falls. Lower Yellowstone Falls is the largest volume waterfall in the Rocky Mountains of the United States. The rocks in this National Park glow a beautiful yellow when the sun hits them. This piece of American art makes a great souvenir from your travels. Original artwork by Catherine LaPointe Vollmer. Colors may vary from monitor to monitor. Painting will be shipped protected with a layer of glassine paper between two rigid boards. Framing tips for pastels: -Frame behind glass, not acrylic or polystyrene. The static from plastic-type glazing will pull the pastel dust away from the paper. -Pastels must not touch the glass, or they will smear. Use a mat or framing spacer. -If matting, put some foam core or a spacer between the painting and the mat. This will prevent pastel dust from falling in front of the mat, discoloring it.

I grew up in the "North Country," the area of New York above the Adirondack Mountains near the Canadian border. I earned my BFA in illustration from Syracuse University, completed internships with the Florence International Theater Company and Illustration House, then returned to the North and now run my home studio on a freelance basis. I am a fine artist, book cover designer, and poster artist. I enjoy dabbling in many different styles of artwork and always have several projects going at once. I love to travel, and am often inspired to create artwork from my travels. I work in the style of Modern Impressionism.
