You are a Star Print

Carl Sagan's extensive novel 'Cosmos' prompted my passion to commence my series of works regarding my curiosity towards the universe, stars, and the sky within myself. Lots of vocabulary in the Korean language originated from Chinese characters. 'Space' in Korean is 'Woo-joo', this word also originated from Chinese characters. However, both 'Woo' and 'Joo' signify in Chinese characters. Which is why I expressed 'Cosmos' as 'Home', in my work. The star is the universe. The house represents the numerous and infinite number of stars that exist in the universe. You are a Star. I would like for the audience of this artwork to view themselves as precious beings as they are. Canvas is the optimal medium for my work process; because the canvas fabric absorbs paint, and thereby emphasizing the material's characteristics and qualities. The acrylic paint demonstrates a calming weight; while oil paint is able to act as the sparkling accent, like stars, and lightens the overall mood of the artwork. The various colours and textures of my artworks facilitates my fulfillment towards expressing the appropriate subject and meaning.
