Zebras are such striking subject matter that it's hard to avoid painting them, especially as a wildlife artist. The bird is a southern ground hornbill which is listed as endangered in most African countries. Certain zebra species are also endangered. The IUCN lists the Grévy's zebra as endangered, the mountain zebra as vulnerable and the plains zebra as near-threatened. My wildlife paintings are created with the sole purpose of bringing attention to endangered and threatened species.

My paintings explore color in nature, the landscape and also wildlife. I began painting out West, in California and New Mexico after many years creating fine art photographs with B&W infrared film. I feel I have a photographer's approach to painting, an attempt to capture the light and color of the natural world. I currently reside in St. Petersburg, Florida after living out West for many years.
