Zerzura Print

My work is generally inspired from the enchanted and mythical places. Zerzura is one such hidden ancient oasis, lost somewhere in the Sahara desert, deep in the desert west of the Nile river in Egypt or Libya. Popularly known as “The Oasis of Little Birds”, legend believes this land to be a resting place of a sleeping King and Queen, guarded by Black Giants. After reading about this mythical land, I believe the oasis would have been a place of tranquility and serenity, providing the travelers a scenic respite from the harshness of the vast desert in the olden days. I wanted to paint a dreamy landscape which was imagined by many but probably actually seen by a handful (or maybe not!)
