ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work was inspired by my husbands love for horror theme paintings, however he is not a horror movie lover. Contradicting indeed. I hope viewers, appreciate the horrible situation and horrific experience, this poor lady has endured. Dressed up, to celebrate The day of the Dead festivities, it seems that the dead did indeed rise. The result was her decapitation as her head was torn from her body. Obviously some time has passed and she has started to decompose. What is left of her head is rotting away. Still, she stares into the abyss, lifeless. Her eyes seem to suggest a confusion and sorrow. As the zombie head which still remains, even though, it is clearly rotting away, still, her blinking eyes and her deep soulful stare speaks volumes. Death is painful if one is to keep lingering, when life, breathe, heartbeat has ceased. To be left animated in this state would be my description of hell.
