ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A sculpture is used to complete the screen. Each piece may not seem like a big deal, but if numerous pieces are organically collected, colorful shapes and colors are created. Sculptures of various sizes are gathered to create a new shape as if the pieces of everyday life were gathered together to create the current me. So, in this work of collecting small pieces to create a forest, various stories of the day are implied. It's a minor story of everyday life, such as meeting a boomer, working hard to get a paycheck, or chatting with friends. The pieces gathered like this are what make me. Memories as a child, relationships with parents, family environment, friends, and school life became the 'me' of today. Looking back, we simply pass through countless daily routines. But when I meet my childhood friends, I feel like I'm back in the past and the memories seem to be recollected naturally. Most people don't pay much attention to it, but they don't completely forget the little moments of their daily lives. The pieces of everyday life are piled up one after another, forming a forest. So, 'me of the past' and 'me of the present' seem to be profoundly similar. The numerous pieces created while doing this work are all meaningful. Just as we protect our place with our own light in society. Each piece fills the canvas and completes the color and shape of the screen, just as everyone has their role, shape, and color. Daily life is literally a 'life pattern that repeats every day', such as eating, sleeping, getting up, and washing. However, everyday life seems to be the same and is always new. Sometimes dramatic changes occur. Someone who used to be my friend suddenly becomes a cold organic matter in a day and leaves me. We don't have a clue what will happen tomorrow and we live like wandering in the forest created by the pieces of everyday life. So, when I draw big and small pieces of everyday life, they come together to form their own . My works , , and express various environments in which people live. The forest is made up of landscapes that are familiar to us. Intuitive images are created through familiar objects such as the sea and fish that fill up the screen, the forest filled with trees, and insects hidden everywhere in fruits. The sea I drew in kindergarten when I was a child was a familiar scene that anyone could think of. Friends around me drew similar images. The landscape I drew at that time is not very different from the sea I want to express. Something is hidden in this familiar and universal image. By hiding something in a familiar and reasonable landscape, the viewer is left to discover what they can discover and what new emotions can be felt. It is purely the viewer's choice as to how far they can notice things in the artwork. I just hid as many stories as possible in familiar landscapes. The forest resembles the current society in which we live. At times, the numerous insects, plants, and animals are hidden in them represent the trivialities of everyday life that no matter how closely we look. Sometimes it shows the image of us living in the forest. Various insects that are eating fruits resemble humans working hard. The moving fishes in the sea that fills the screen and are similar to the busy commute of the people.
