Harry Moody is a Los Angeles–based abstract painter, born in Wiesbaden, Germany. He received his formal training at the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, where he completed a Meisterschülerabschluss and majored in Free Painting. His professors included Johannes Schreiter, Thomas Bayrle, and Josef Beuys.
In 1986, while at the Städelschule, Moody was introduced to the work and ideas of Gerhard Richter, whose approach to painting became an important influence on his artistic development.
Moody has maintained a sustained professional practice in painting and has also worked in art dealing, gallery management, appraisal, restoration, curatorial projects, and art criticism. His paintings have been exhibited internationally and are held in private and public collections. His exhibitions and presentations have included galleries, museums, art fairs, and institutional settings in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Moody’s work was selected for the London Art Biennale in 2019 and 2021. His work has been presented on Saatchi Art since 2012.
