| Alexandra`s work is all about the basic principle of painting: abstraction. The starting point is mostly a figurative one, something she has seen. A process begins and a dialogue is triggered. In her painting she creates worlds, which often originate in her direct surroundings. Through serial work, layers, overlapping parts new colour spaces evolve. Repetition continuously sharpens the ever new view on the initial situation. Her drawings are kind of a journal. Repetition and meditative immersion lead to successive approximation to the subject. Seeing is intensified. The individual character of each drawing takes shape in the sequence. Mostly organic shapes are composed from sparse lines and a reduced colour scheme. Lines become constructions and develop life.
