apocalypse Print

This painting began life a depiction of Hell, full of demons and tortured souls. It freaked me out as that was not my intention and so I took a wet scourer to the canvas and started to scrub. I really gave it the full clean while praying in an almost trance like state. Once i was satisfied that there were no more hellish imagery visible i turned around and saw a pot of white emulsion paint with brush. I grabbed it and started to overpaint the canvas which was still wet. There was no order or plan apart from to remove all traces of hellish imagery. Something took hold of my hand, guiding my new creation. When i stopped the canvas was still wet from scrubbing and looked completely different. Once it had dried the following imagery was staring me in the face although it may not be as clear on screen due to my photography skills. There is a profile to the right of the centre cross that is my double, Blending in at the bottom of this image is another portrait, this one is very reminiscent of the Shroud of Turin. There are four letters above my profile, they are my initials. None of what i have described was intentional.God works in wonderful and mysterious ways, Amen.
