My inspiration, technique and themes;

From my childhood, I am fascinated for drawing and painting. From the beginning, I have been working in pencil, watercolor and oil. Nature is always my focus. Over the years, themes of my works have been changed. Against beauty of nature, harsh reality of society, wrecked houses, historical buildings, large sized ships of the Buriganga River, labourers and their daily chores, waiting boatmen in the bright lights, downtrodden people and their regular lives, traffic jam of Dhaka city, wounded people under collapsed buildings are my subjects. This is my first solo exhibition. About 40 artworks in different mediums are on display. The exhibition’s title is Ultramarine which is my favourete color.
I am attracted to the beauty of nature and portrayed them on canvas. I feel attraction and admiration for painting with forgetfully. Once upon a time, it was like an obsession for me. In childhood, I engrossed with drawing in most of the time and my Mother always inspired and supported me. During that time, I was influenced by the paintings of famous painters. I raised in the city consequently I was very familiar to the metropolis and its people, surrounding atmospheres, different locations of the city, traffic jam in the capital, unplanned urbanization, sound, color and varieties. I want to express my experience in my paintings. Observing the subjects from different angles and trying to portray them on canvas. I feel an artist can select his subjects by traveling different places and intensely observing people’s life, nature, flora and fauna and more. I like to work in outdoor. I select my subjects by deeply observing them and like to go to in detail. Besides those, wounded and deceased labouers under Rana Plaza, bloodstained bodies, bricks, clothes also have come to my subject. I have used pencil, watercolor, oil and acrylic. Watercolor is my preferred medium and I try to present the medium with different dimensions. I have tried to flawlessly used the lucidity of the medium. In oil, I have worked in traditional fat over lean. I have maintained an individual style in the use of medium and experimentation. Besides, I have also worked in pencil and acrylic. I have participated in many group art exhibitions and workshops and achieved many awards from home and abroad since my childhood. In 2012, I achieved the “ Media best award in water color” from our department.
