It is a portrait born of an abstract turned painting. I have seen this appearance by chance. Then I helped it by a few brush strokes to reveal itself a little bit more. I liked his imposing jacket, his distinguished allure, and the discretion of his portrait. I didn't want to individualize him more then it is, because the imagination recompose him mentally well enough. I feel that he has a precious and beautiful jacket, as you see in many ancient portraits of lords. The image is seen from the bottom and that's why the coat seems so large. In the top half of the picture I left an ambiguous game of traces of wind, fog and unfinished elements. Why did the dog head turn up, I don't know. But I thought it was an interesting strangeness and I let it so. It is not a framed picture. It would fit a classic frame, generous in shape and size. It would be an interesting contrast between the apparent classic painting aura and the sketchy appearance of it proper to contemporary art.
