Since my previous exhibition (2016, Nothing General and Special, artbit gallery, Seoul), the most salient change in my life and work has been caused by my marriage and childbirth. Even though I had lived as an unsubstantial optimist and idealist, this striking change caused me to become aware of my reality. Despite my hectic everyday life, it broadens the spectrum of my work with calmness. "I am, indeed, a practical dreamer. My dreams are not airy nothings. I want to convert my dreams into realities as far as possible." (Mahatma Gandhi) I try to observe the relationship between reality and the ideal prior to working in order to turn an ideal into reality. The works on display at the exhibition are scenes of what I regard to be "ideal" as seen through the backsight of "reality". I have firmly adhered to the ideal while continuing to maintain my easygoing attitude, reluctant actions, and vague imagination. I have observed and expressed the "somewhat loose, twisted world I have forged" somewhere between hope and despair.
