ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The work depicts the lonely nights I felt living on Jeju Island. I studied abroad for 13 years, both in India and the United States. I had conflicted with my family about whether to take over the family business. I moved to the island to focus on art-making with the art community at graduate school. I felt my painting improved but was still lonely and socially dependent on my family's financial support. I hope this painting can bring sympathy to the audience for being lonely.
