Ana Vizcarra Rankin makes drawings, paintings and sculptures about travel and cartography. Recently she has been studying star maps and images captured using powerful telescopes or other mediating technologies such as global positioning systems. These images are transmuted into art that explores the phenomenological sense of being in and of the universe. An Uruguayan American artist based in Philadelphia, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Temple University, Vizcarra Rankin has exhibited extensively and received numerous awards. Her work resides in international, public, corporate and private collections. *** Ana Vizcarra Rankin hace dibujos, pinturas y esculturas sobre los viajes y la cartografía. Recientemente ha estado estudiando mapas astronómicos y las imágenes capturadas utilizando gran telescopios y otras tecnologías de mediación gráfica, como los sistemas de posicionamiento global. Estas imágenes se transmutan en arte que explora el sentido fenomenológico de ser parte del universo. Una artista uruguaya/estadounidense con sede en Filadelfia, Vizcarra Rankin se graduó con un Master en las artes plásticas de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Pensilvania y una licenciatura de historia del arte en la Universidad de Temple. Ha realizado numerosas exposiciones y recibido varios premios. Su trabajo reside en colecciones internacionales, públicas, corporativas y privadas.
