From studies in visual anthroplogy and photography to illustration and painting - a wending path that took me from concrete thought and images to the work I now do which is non-figurative and where color and form are central- it is a progression that feels right to me. . I spend my time in the studio, alone, looking for semi-abstract events in painting that are visual - not conceptual. Painting works for me as the most direct method for translating abstract thought into images. I work with drawing in the same vein though still with a foot in the figurative (and literal) sphere. My subject matter is a digression into the natural world- to her forces, her systems, beauty and decay. It is a never-ending source of material for me- as thought, as images, as the subject of the alphabet of gesture, color and texture I have been building. i work as an illustrator, teacher and translater of artists texts as well.
