We all ask ourselves or have asked ourselves: "AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN?" I try to project myself into tomorrow. As protected by a glass, the colors of my imagination pass by, but the future is not yet there ... I feel anguish or joy for something that still has to come! I return to the present with myself and I have to answer a question: How do I decide to be?

All my photos are certified from my self. My artwork is the outcome of different and various steps: I dedicate a lot of time to think about the topic: weeks, months, I think about people, about their troubles, I imagine a project, the way I can translate and interpret my thoughts into a picture, then I begin to make a plan to go out and photograph. I select the pictures and I finally choose the most suitable: the first creative step is completed. Now what? The painting process is very much an unpredictable one, I don’t know the final result, this is the creative transposition of my thoughts, somewhat irrational; the materic colour is my sensations, my emotions. I am alone, in my studio, just me, my pictures and many bottles of coloured paint. I can use the colours with a paintbrush, my hands and other objects: it all depends from what the picture is telling me and how it makes me feel inside. I mix the colours, I place them on the picture, I take them off it, I repeat and I only stop when I am satisfied; sometimes, when I am not happy about the result, I throw everything away. I find this to be a very tiring process, and the final result has yet to come! Photographing the painted picture is the last step; choosing the right light, the right lens and the right position is necessary: it is not easy to make sure the paint and the colours in the picture are no more distinguishable, but fused together. At the end I observe the file and I only correct some basic features, such as brightness and contrast. All done! (If I am satisfied, of course.) Born in 1952, Massimo Motta as a biologist did long and uninterrupted use of photography; but he always oriented his documentary aim towards the aesthetic and artistic added value, switching soon his interest to art tout court, as linguistic and content research. This up to transfer research from science to art absolutely.Even though in a polite way, that is not avoiding aesthetic result, nevertheless rigor and fidget in the domain of language are his main concern, competing with the spurs coming from art, technology and photography history, particularly Muybridge. Hence, Light and Night series, followed by Shadows, Pattern of Media, and this last unpublished series, titled On This Side of Time, where a strong pattern between painting and photography has been implemented, even though photography constitutes the ultimate goal.
