ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I found a vintage photograph of a girl; she was beautifully set in a decorative golden frame. I thought long and hard about whether or not to include the frame in my photograph, and I’m happy I did. We all develop a bond between ourselves and our pets at some time or another. Whether your pet is a dog, cat, or duck, we create emotional ties. After seeing a YouTube video about a girl in Maine who thought that she was the mother of her pet duck, I was moved to create this photomontage. The background photograph of the windmills was taken during a recent trip to Holland, and I photographed the duck waddling along a pond in Costa Rica.

Vincent discovered photography at an early age during high school. He says, “It was an incredible stroke of luck for me to land a part-time job as a photographer for a local newspaper.” At that time, his focus was photojournalism, and this one event sparked a passion for taking pictures that have lasted an entire lifetime. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Vincent entered the Air Force after high school. He traveled to Japan during this time and began photographing the beautiful landscapes of this spectacular country. His opportunity for flying around the world opened another door for him and led him to find a passion for travel. Vincent studied photography in college but is mostly self-taught. While struggling to find his way in the photography world, he decided to become a traveling photographer taking “Old Time Photo Portraits” at Fairs and Craft Shows. Several years later, Vincent became an assistant for a San Francisco photographer who specialized in fashion photography. Then one year after, he opened his photography studio in Sacramento dedicated to Advertising and Fashion photography. Today you can find Vincent sitting in front of his computer, creating surreal composite images from many of his travel photographs. His focus now is to create images that have a shared commonality. Images that directly reflect the reality of life.
