This series is about mental health. The growing grasp of wondering and the sense of ultimate hopelessness. We morph like bodies do from how we decipher ourselves into a new being - like butterflies. Especially in these times - photos say nothing and everything sometimes.

About the Artist

Kerry Cunningham

Ireland

Identity and notion of self are the main themes within my artwork. I see my art as a life journey and as my life twists and changes, so does my artwork. I explore our versions of ourselves, that we or anyone see, or the challenges that we might not realise exist until we have a diagnosis. We realise we exist and think we are so separate but we as people are suddenly so obvious once pointed out. It depends who fuels our mind - terribly but art is made from experience.

I suppose its described as confronting the search for ourselves that we all have throughout life or trying to make the idea of identity questionable. My art pieces are an exploration of identity and the presumed notion we seem to have of it.
