Els Marks is an Italian photographer and artist based in London. By exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, Els' works aim to establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. Her work investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape and travel means to us. Her photographs isolate the movements of nature and never show the complete structure of the space. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination and investigate how people experience new places through travel.
