Brandon LeValley (b. 1954) is a photographic artist based in the United States. He studied Art earning a degree at Washington State University in 1976 and his early involvement with photography began in the darkroom, working extensively with film. The tactile process of developing images and producing a final print shaped his enduring appreciation for light, form, and material presence. As photographic technology evolved, LeValley embraced the digital medium, recognizing its transformative impact on image-making while maintaining a disciplined, print-oriented mindset. Today, while his work isn't exclusively black and white, he often renders it in this medium to emphasize structure, contrast, and emotional clarity. LeValley’s primary subjects include botanicals—chosen for their dramatic line and sculptural qualities—as well as architecture and expansive landscapes. Living near Joshua Tree National Park has become a significant influence, offering a continual source of inspiration through its stark forms, light, and spatial rhythms. While his methods have evolved, LeValley’s artistic drive remains rooted in subject matter and process. He approaches each image with intention and persistence, often working exhaustively to fully realize its potential. He believes that compelling photographs emerge through commitment to detail—where patience and discipline ultimately reward the viewer with a more resonant and enduring work.
