I'm an part-time photographer from Johannesburg, South Africa. An electronic engineer by profession, I enjoy the mixture of technology and art in photography. I started out playing with my dads' old Pentax SLR's that he used in his young days as journalist. At some stage people started commenting on my 'nice' pictures - so that inspired me to learn and develop some more. Having two kids (and a couple of thousand pics of them) I slowly started to see what works and what doesn't. I have not formally studied photography so learning is just by doing. It inspires me to go further and keeps me going for that 'one in a million' shot. 'Abstract' is my favourite. There's just something about trying to figure out a weird picture that already evoked emotion. I see myself developing more towards 'arty' than realistic photography. I know this is not everyones cup of tea, but I think there is a place for where abstract art and photography meet ....
