ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I often spent cold winter nights wandering streets in Detroit, looking to make new images. While rush hour traffic clogged the freeways, I had streets like this mostly to myself. This was an area, largely abandoned in anticipation of, never to be built, casinos. On this particular night the temperature and the wind created a brutally cold night. I spent several hours making photographs, before I couldn't handle the cold anymore, and headed home.
