ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A B-17 overflies Omaha Beach in 2006. The sand is red and clean from any of the detritus of war, as the shot was made 62 years after D-Day. I was last there as a child. My parents wanted to show me where my Uncle Tom came ashore on D-Day +6 in his Sherman tank. In the 50s there were still piles o rusting metal, beached LST's, scraps of helmets, and other detritus in the sand.
