ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This photograph was taken in the South African bushveld. It is a Baobab tree, these trees have adapted to their environment and they are succulents, so absorb water during the rainy seasons and store it enabling the tree to produce fruit considered to be a superfood in the dry season. This is how it came to be known as 'The Tree of Life'. There are many myths around the Baobab and one of them suggests it was planted upside down.
