The seemingly infinite repetition of rooms in the distance instantly grabbed my attention here. These are the main barracks at Fort Point. The Fort was established in 1776 to protect the Golden Gate against enemy vessels from entering San Francisco Bay. Each chamber along this hallway served as sleeping quarters for the men stationed there. Since its construction in 1936 - the fort is situated under the south anchorage of The Golden Gate Bridge - and is open to the public.
