ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Basorexia: The sudden urge to kiss someone. From the series Atlas of Emotions and Feelings where every emotion is represented from a visual manifestation or an emotional visualization graph. The concept for this project, emerged from the thought, that every feeling can be a visual graph, as no visualization is completely devoid of emotion. Every visualization represents a specific psychological state and gives an intuitive picture of the relative intensities of each feeling, as each visual graph attempt to embody the emotion itself. In every case, the design elements are so suggestive as to seem obvious. Every emotional graph invites us to explore and contemplate the nuances of each specific feeling. The Atlas of Emotions is above all a fascinating examination of the inherently emotional qualities of the visual language used in information graphics. Basic elements like line and color, however innocent or neutral they may seem, cannot be stripped of their psychological baggage.

Panagiotis Liveris (Born in Germany, in 1970) is a modern artist working in a wide variety of media, including mixed media pieces, photography, installations, video art, and performances. His works are influenced by a variety of sources like ideas and philosophical questions that can become works of art, order and chaos, and the forms that can be born from the aspects of life, the clutter of the past, and the collective humanity's unconscious, the Art as the only thing that still produces spiritual implants, and reflects the dazzling light of the present, and the present as the only active thing or the only reality, the barriers of memory and the unconscious rhythm of thought, meanings like life, and death as the only word that is not ephemeral, the right to wholeness, the spectacle of disaster, decomposition, oppression, and madness, the developments in art's history and nature, sensuality, and eroticism, and the artist's always own personal history. When chaos and disruption in the work are palpable, new dimensions are near. Questioning dimensions by disrupting, playing, and disordering, suggest new solutions. “ I believe in Art where the forests can be white or black, orange or glass, and the sea can be invisible, or pink. I am for an Art which transforms the cube into an amorphous mass, and the amorphous mass into a sphere, in Art where any idea becomes a machine that creates it. To live, and to cease living, are just imaginary solutions. Existence lies elsewhere. . I believe in Art that requires truth, not sincerity. I believe in Αrt that is against Αrt.” He studied computer graphics and photography and he followed a trajectory of experimental research in the field of photography and video art. He was trained as a contemporary artist in the school of Fine Arts of Athens. Panagiotis gained his first experiences in modern art - sculpting by attending the workshop of internationally accomplished artist George Lappas, creating big installations and video - art performances with mixed media and ready-mades, combining a lot of different materials like glass, mirrors, led lighting, blood, coffins, cars, animal flesh, and dead animals. He was a founding member of the Art Group "Body Politic", founded in Athens in 1994 with participation in several exhibitions all over Europe.
