About The Artwork

“21st Century Artifacts” is a series of new work related to the current climate and environmental crisis. This work seeks to explore ideas around extinction and the environmental catastropy that is being caused by the over exploitation of the planet. The suggested preservation of some of these objects in 2D form in acrylic block in this series seeks to highlight the potential for extinction of everyday objects and forms in nature. Objects which are both natural and man made are suspended in a stasis as a museum spectacle akin to the last Dodo stuffed in a british museum. Objects like peat briquettes are being resigned to the cultural history books as a positive step in the combat against climate change. What else will vanish from our lives in the coming years, we do not yet know.
