Muhammad Amdad Hossain(B-1999) is a renowned visual artist and Photographer from Chittagong, Bangladesh, applauded for his ability to capture the momentary glimpses of life through the lens of his camera. Working mainly in documentary photography, Amdad's body of work goes beyond mere visual storytelling by highlighting the resilience, strength, and emotional depth of people facing adversity, most notably in the aftermath of floods, pollution, and poverty. His photography puts the focus on documenting the impacts of natural disasters, especially on the catastrophic floods, pollution, and displacement hitting the vulnerable communities of Bangladesh. His work, however, further underlines human resilience and strength—how people endure in the face of adversity. Again, Amdad's record shows the cultural heritage through traditional festivals, rituals, and life in rural Bangladesh, covering events such as the Polo Bawa fishing festival , Horse race and bullock cart races in Bangladesh. Amdad has won more than 170 prestigious awards, including first-place prizes in several international photography contests, proving his great storytelling and technical skills. His photographs have been published in more than 150 international newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian, Forbes, National Geographic, The Times, BBC, Yahoo/News, CNN World, L’OBS, Microsoft Start, Salon, United Nations, Franceinfo, ESCAP, iPost, South China Morning Post, Bundle, CGTN, UNESCO, Adventure, Global Times, WELT, Zeitung, ZEIT Online, DER PATRIOT, The Mirror Asia and PetaPixel. Moreover, his pictures have been exhibited in more than 30 countries to date, serving to amplify the voices of vulnerable communities and raise awareness of their plight.
