This artwork constitutes within the project 'Der Himmel über Berlin,' a series comprising four photographs crafted in the city of Berlin in 2004 and subsequently developed and printed in London. Aligned with the description of the seminal image, 'Aufgeloste Gebaude' stands as an art documentary project, a responsive exploration of my influences deeply rooted in the works of German artists across music, literature, and cinema. Simultaneously, it functions as a nuanced documentation of the cultural and social metamorphoses impacting the dynamic city of Berlin. Positioned against the backdrop of an occupied building I traversed during my stay, this photograph intricately weaves a narrative on the intersections of time and languages. The arresting visual composition captures the remnants of the original image, marred and overwritten by layers of graffiti and assorted marks. Within this complex interplay of meanings, the obscured original image persists, revealed only in a small, discernible area. Notably, the sole legible text, the title of the poster, 'Berlin?,' accompanied by a question mark, imparts a profound sense of uncertainty regarding the city's future—a thematic focal point that magnetically drew my artistic gaze. This piece emerges as a contemplation on the limitations of language when confronted with unfamiliar territories. It navigates the nuanced realms of temporality, linguistic intricacies, and, inherently, my personal lens of perception and reframing. The palpable resistance of East Berlin to relinquish its historical identity, inadvertently mirrored in my unplanned reflections within the work, enriches the resulting body of work. This collection encapsulates the dichotomy of Berlin's ambiance—simultaneously romantic and dilapidated, poetic yet tinged with an evocative gloom. While not overtly political, I contend that its inherent exploration of landscape inherently encompasses a political discourse.

Italian artist based currently in London. Her artistic practice investigates and questions the persuasive power of the image and of the visual language. Her body of work incorporates intimate yet universal experiences such as loneliness, abandonment, fear for emotional nakedness and failure. In touching on these topics, she aims to create a collision between opposite languages: the unreal and the imaginary, the document and the oneiric, the personal memory and the collective, aiming to trigger reactions by invoking primal and visceral emotions. She employs the photographic medium to create visual access to the many different readings of existence. Her work often addresses elements of sexuality, mysticism, body language and nature, to create a tense narrative that provokes and relives at the same time.
