ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Taklamakan Desert (塔克拉玛干沙漠) is a desert in Southwest Xinjiang, Northwest China. It is bounded by the Kunlun Mountains to the south, Pamir Highlands to the west, Tian Shan range to the north, and Gobi Desert to the east. Taklamakan has a splendid history and culture. The ancient silk road passes through the whole south end and north end of Taklamakan. Many archaeological materials show that the hinterland of the desert is silent and prosperous. It is the largest desert in China, tenth largest in the world and the second largest shifting sand desert in the world. It covers an area of 330000 sq km. The pyramidal dunes stand at 300 meters above the plain. The strong wind can blow the sand wall up to 3 times its height. Sand dunes stretch in the desert and often move with the winds. Original Prints (Limited to 30 copies): Museum Quality, Premium Canvas Print. Canvas Printing, or Giclee Printing is a process in which a picture of photograph is printed on a piece of high-quality canvas (and then stretched around a hardwood frame on location.) Canvas Prints feature in art galleries across the world. The canvas we use is imported from North America. It is the same canvas which leading art-galleries use to display their pictures; 1. Made of cotton blend to ensure a more consistent product 2. Bright white in colour – this is perfect for showcasing brilliant hues and sharp definition. 3. Water-resistant 4. Archival rated to 75+ years 5. Heavyweight (more like denim than the bed-sheet-like imitation which other print-makers use) 6. More textured than most canvases on the market ***Please enquiry for other orientation and/or dimensions

Vicky Yeow (Singaporean) was an avid traveler and an IT Executive Search professional when she discovered her passion for photography in 2008. By the following year, she became a full time Travel Photographer and has since been organizing and conducting Travel Photography Workshops and Clinics. Leading international teams of amateur as well as professional photographers, she has traveled from The Arctic to The Antarctic and more than 40 countries in between. Vicky successfully combined work and passion. She has been photographing genres across Wildlife, Landscape, Streets, Festivals and “anything which appeals” in the course of her work. Vicky was among the throng of Invited International Press Photographers capturing the Royal Wedding of Bhutan in 2011, after which her article and photos were published in The Readers’ Digest. In the same year, she was contacted by The Cathay Gallery of Singapore who sponsored an Exhibition featuring a series of her works “The Sadhus of Pashupatinath” which was shot in Nepal. Multiple of Vicky’s works has appeared in some Photography and Travel related as well as airline Magazines. Photography opens up a whole new way of looking at life, offers new perspectives and presents unlimited opportunities. Vicky approaches photography with an open mind, unrestricted and mostly ignores standard rules. It is her habit to always use “a lot heart”, always experimenting and exploring new ways to present same subjects in a different manner. Mostly, The Genre which “speaks to her intensely” is Street Photography, which Vicky says is about Photographing Life.
